2018 Land Rover Discovery vs 2018 Land Rover Range Rover

2018 Land Rover Discovery vs 2018 Land Rover Range Rover

If there is one brand that reigns supreme in the world of large crossovers and SUVs, it is Land Rover. Land Rover's selection is unrivaled, making it possible for you to drive home exactly the vehicle you desire. All of these options can also make your decision a little tougher, however, and it can be a little more time consuming to sort through all of the fantastic vehicles you have available to you. Thankfully, you don't have to take on that process alone. We're here to help at Land Rover Fairfield by comparing the differences between the 2018 Land Rover Discovery vs the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover.

First of all, let's address the elephant in the room. These two vehicles may look similar, but as you can tell from the MSRP figures in the chart below, there is quite a difference. The Range Rover has a starting MSRP over $30,000 more than the Discovery. This doesn't necessarily make it a better option, but it does mean you're bound to find a good number of standard features on the Range Rover that are either not available with the Discovery or come at a higher cost than the Discovery's entry level price. Such features include the standard LED headlights as seen below, as well as a 13-speaker sound system (rather than 10), a rear armrest and a lane departure warning system.

Differences Between the 2018 Discovery and Range Rover

Under the hood, you really can't go wrong with either model, at least not in the standard configurations. Both models offer a 3.0L diesel with 443 lb-ft of torque and a 3.0L gasoline power plant pumping out 340 horsepower. If you do want more power, however, the Range Rover is going to be the right vehicle for you. It also offers a Supercharged V6 engine and a Supercharged V8 engine, which manage to deliver 380 horsepower and 518 horsepower, respectively. That horsepower figure can be boosted a bit on the Range Rover SV Autobiography model to 557.

Where the Land Rover Discovery really excels, however, is in cargo space. When it comes to cargo-hauling, the Discovery is your go-to vehicle if you need an edge in this area. Though the Range Rover's long wheelbase variant provides ample cargo room, it may not be enough for everyone. That's where the Discovery's truly impressive 88.3 cu ft of cargo space comes into play, as well as its slightly superior towing capacity of 8,201 lbs.

As you can see, there is no right or wrong option when comparing the 2018 Land Rover Discovery vs the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover. But really, we've only just scratched the surface when it comes to diving into the details between these two vehicles. To learn more or to schedule a test drive, contact us at Land Rover Fairfield.
